Frequently asked questions

Q : What is letterpress?

A : Letterpress printing is a technique of relief printing. Using a printing press, the process allows many copies to be produced by repeated direct impression of an inked, raised surface against sheets or a continuous roll of paper. Letterpress printing leaves a tactile and visual impression into the paper – some call it “debossed.” This is unique to letterpress printing, and communicates an elegance and handcrafted quality that can’t be matched by any other printing method.

Q : What is thermography?

A : Thermography is a specialised process that combines offset printing ink with a powdered resin which is baked so that the resin expands to give the ink a raised, textured effect. This process is commonly used for business cards and wedding stationery.

Q : What paper / card do we use?

A : We generally use GF Smith papers because they are so gorgeous, and a beautiful cotton paper from a British mill, but we can access all manner of different papers, so if you have a particular requirement do let us know. For our personal stationery we use a range of premium papers from different suppliers with matching envelopes and samples are always available – just get in touch.

Q: When should I order my wedding stationery?

A: For ‘save the dates’ we recommend you order these as soon as you know your venue and date. Usually ‘save the dates’ should be sent out to guests 8-18 months before your special day.

For main invitations we advise you order these as soon as you have all your information. The sooner you send out your main invites the better, to give your guests plenty of notice.

If you’re concerned you’ve left it too late, give us a message as we can try and work something out for you.

Q: Do you ship overseas?

A: We can ship prints to most European countries and the USA. If you would like to order wedding stationery to be delivered overseas we can discuss postage options and prices via email

Q: Are envelopes included in my order?

A: All orders come with envelopes. Coloured envelopes can be discussed during the initial design stage.

Q: We have received our proof and would like to make changes is this possible?

A: Of course! This is why we supply proofs to ensure every detail of your invitation is checked over and perfect before sending to print. If you require some small changes we will adjust the artwork and resend a second proof. Please note that any significant changes to illustration work may incur additional charges.

Q: What do I need to check on my proof?

A: It’s very important to carefully check over spelling, grammar and make sure you are happy with any colour changes. Once the final proof has been approved by you we cannot be held responsible for any mistakes.
